Golden Cypress, also known as "Monterey Cypress" in USA, and "Macrocarpa" in New Zealand, is a coniferous tree.
I have fond memories of climbing (and falling from) the row of these trees in the park behind my childhood home, getting sticky sap on my hands from the thick needles.
The timber has a distinctive, pleasant smell and is popular with woodworkers. It is harvested for fine carpentry such as cabinetmaking and musical instruments. The timber for these pens came from a friend.
