PENS, PENCILS - Tasmanian Oak (Eucalyptus regnans)

Learn about this timber

Known by several names depending on where it's found, Tassie Oak is a medium-sized to very tall forest tree that is native to the Australia states of Tasmania and Victoria. It is a straight-trunked tree with smooth grey bark, and is the tallest of all flowering plants; the tallest measured living specimen stands 100.5 metres tall.

It has been widely used for sawlogging and woodchipping. It was a major source of newsprint in the 20th century. Main uses for sawn wood are furniture, flooring (where its very pale blonde colour is highly prized), panelling, veneer, plywood, window frames, and general construction. This wood is highly regarded by builders, furniture makers and architects.

#1 The light coloured timber and brushed silver hardware work together well in this pen. Gentle shape with slim waist are pleasing to the eye. You'll enjoy writing with this beauty.
