Bloodwood is a eucalypt that is endemic to eastern Australia. It has rough, scaly bark on the trunk and branches, lance-shaped adult leaves, flower buds in groups of seven, creamy white flowers and urn-shaped fruit. The timber is prized for it's rich blood red colour. If the bark is damaged the tree "bleeds" sap to protect and repair itself.
