Purple Heart timber is an imported timber which is prized for it's beautiful consistent colour. When cutting it the colour is a bland grey-brown, but the colour changes to purple with exposure to UV light. Purple Heart is native to the tropical rainforests in the northern part of South America. It is often used for flooring and these pens were made from offcuts that were destined to be firewood.
