Fluid Loss from the body.
For the average 70 kg male, it has been measured to be 400 ml due to respiration (breathing) and 400 ml due to perspiration (sweat) per 24 hour period of time. These are average figures. But if you work in hot environments you will sweat more than usual, and when you are involved in strenuous exercise your breathing rate and volume will increase, meaning you’ll exhale more moisture in your breath, so you need to drink more water to remain properly hydrated.

How to stay properly hydrated?

There are two ways we intake fluid:  1) through what we drink, and 2) what we eat.

Drink regularly: Because we lose moisture constantly we need to drink regularly to maintain our optimum hydration level. The best way to hydrate is to drink clean water in small amounts regularly throughout the day. It doesn’t have to be only water. You can drink freshly squeezed fruit juices, soups etc. Note: Reconstituted fruit drinks and soda drinks will provide hydration, but the sugar content in them is not good for you, and sugar makes you thirstier. Chemicals in coffee and tea will make you pee more often so you will lose fluid as a result. Alcoholic drinks will do the same so cannot be relied on for healthy hydration.
